DUNE PRESERVATION On November 21, 2021, an Emergency Fence Project was held at IBSP. The dunes at Area-7 and Area-8 were beginning to erode from recent storms. The project took 6 hours to complete and 850 feet of fence was installed by 14 NJBBA members. 1/11

Garden State surf fishing classic The Garden State Surf Fishing Classic - 35th Annual Governor’s Cup will be held at Island Beach State Park on Sunday, May 17 from 6:30 am to 1 pm! Register early to save on adult registration fees, be eligible for additional prizes and head directly to the beach on tournament day. Early registration can be completed online or by mail. Prizes will be awarded in age and species categories and the individual who catches the largest fish will win the Governor’s Trophy. An awards ceremony will take place from 1:30pm to 2pm. Judges Every year the NJBBA supplies the Garden State Surf Fishing Classic with the Judges from our Membership. If you would like to volunteer as a Judge, and you are a member in good standing, a great time is had by all. Yes we need to be there by 5:00am and yes it is dark. Meet at the park office which is 3.5 miles from the entrance. There is a fuel stipend of $40.00 and $15.00 for food voucher. A beach buggy is not required and if you like, a temporary beach driving permit is available. RSVP to this year's event No events at the moment

dune grass planting The Nature Center needs help with their grass planting program throughout the months of March and April. We ask our members who are retired or anyone with spare time to take the opportunity to assist by giving rides to the kids planting dune grass. The days are Wed, Sat. and Sun. Because of the storms this past winter and bad beach conditions there have been no dates set for this year. Please see the Nature Center website of upcoming events.

veteran's outing The NJBBA will host the veterans from the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. We will be in Stone Harbor on 81st street at the municipal marina. There is a pavilion and a nice bulkhead to fish from. The Vets arrive at 10:00 and we have rods and bait waiting for them to fish with. We break for lunch and then fish for another hour or so. Then we get a group picture, give away some prizes, gifts and such before they get back on the bus to head back. Come on out for the day, hang out with the people that gave their time protecting what we take for advantage. It's a very rewarding feeling after its all over and the veterans love it! register for the next event No events at the moment prior events The NJBBA had the pleasure of hosting the veterans at Stone Harbor for a day of fishing and lunch. The weather was beautiful and a few fish were caught. A couple of croakers, a 17” shark, a horseshoe crab and a cownose ray. The veterans seem to enjoy the day out and it is a rewarding day for all of the volunteers who helped with the outing. I would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to help make this event happen. We could not have this event without all the help and donations.
